Having our own in-house workshop enables us to be a unique and very personal jeweller. Our passionate in-house artisans bring the wisdom of diamond grading, the vision of goldsmithing and profession of gemology to each piece we design or manufacture.

Designed and Handmade in House
SINCE 1991
Originating as a Jewellery Design House, La Nouvelle was based in central Durban in 1991. With the drive of business on the KwaZulu Natal coastline going north, it was felt that better exposure for this design and manufacturing house would be achieved in Umhlanga. So Afrokwazi was born for Gateway, and by 2001 had opened with the opening of the mall.
Managing Owner, Rosanna Moskovitch, started her career in 1981 on the bench doing a full apprenticeship. She is a self-taught gemmologist and has papers in Diamond Grading, Gemmology and is a Journeyman. She then set about establishing her business to provide bespoke design with globally sourced high calibre gemstones and diamonds at a time when specialised gem product was not locally available.
Having served her apprenticeship as a goldsmith, her extensive experience is evident when serving clients. Bradley Pillay is the overall design and sales managing partner, he has taken this tuition and brought a more modern spin to the 30 year old company, driving the watch component to the fore as the perfect accessory-add-on for this jewellery house. Working with him are his managing and floor personnel AJ Naidoo, Lucia Mhlongo and Antonio Perumal, all knowledgeable and hands on.
The in-store workshop is manned by our highly skilled and qualified goldsmith whose interest in Japanese art brought a unique engraving and setting skillset to the business. Thus the full working team, with a combined jewellery experience of more than 100 years, affords a security and peace of mind achieved only by dealing with professionals.
